The most common, and possibly primitive (lol) way of Installing Addons to XBMC for the Apple TV is by using the Install from ZIP File function. Basically what this involves is uploading your addons and repositories to the appropriate directory on the device, then using the XBMC menu to install them. It’s simple enough if you know how to follow instructions.

Requirements
- Downloaded Addon Files or Repositories
- Jailbroken ATV2 with XBMC Installed
- FileZilla FTP Client (or Cyberduck)
Step 1: Launch the FileZilla FTP Client and Quickconnect to the device.
You’ll need to use the “IP Address” of your Device under the “Host” field, with Username “root” (without quotations) and Password “alpine” (without quotations).
Step 2: Double Click the Two Dots at the top of the Right Side navigation window to go up one menu level. You’ll then want to Open the “mobile” Folder.
Step 3: Open the “Applications” folder.
Step 4: Copy your desired addon files that you previously downloaded, directly into the “Applications” folder by Dragging and Dropping.
Step 5: Exit the FTP Software and Launch XBMC on your Apple TV 2.
Step 6: Navigate to the “Settings” folder under the “SYSTEM” menu.
Step 7: Click on the “Add-ons” menu listing on the Left Side.
Step 8: Click on the “Install from ZIP file” menu option.
Step 9: Open the “Home folder” next.
Step 10: Open the “Applications” folder.
Step 11: One by One, Click on Each Desired Addon or Repository. You’ll have to perform from Step 8 forth for each one.
Step 12: Choose the “Get Add-ons” menu listing.
Step 13: Choose the first repository that you just installed from ZIP file in the previous steps. We’re going to use “Bstrdsmkr’s Repository” as an example.
Individual addons that are not part of repositories can skip this part forward.
Step 14: Select the “Video Add-ons” folder, if applicable.
Step 15: Select the name of your desired addon. We’ve chosen “1Channel Plugin” for this guide.
Step 16: Select the “Install” button option and wait a few seconds. Repeat from Step 13 forth for each additional addon or repository.
Step 17: Return to the Main Menu by pressing the “MENU” button on your Remote Control a few times.
Step 18: Choose “Add-ons” under the “VIDEOS” menu, and Voila! The addons you’ve just installed will be listed there, you’ll also be able to add other addons that are part of already installed repositories from the “Get more” option in that same menu.
Congratulations! You’ve improved your skills and are now very capable of installing XBMC addons from ZIP file, the original method. Take it easy.
If you’ve experienced trouble with folders being empty in Step 13, reboot your Apple TV by holding both the “MENU” and “DOWN” buttons on the remote control at the same time for 30 Seconds, and then continue.
