If you’ve recently began to encounter problems with live streaming, chances are it might very well have something to do with your libRTMP file being out of date, as the XBMC software doesn’t seem to have a good version of libRTMP to satisfy the needs of the majority of live streamers out there. While it isn’t that complicated to do this, this is considered to be something for more technologically comfortable XBMC users.
MANUALLY UPDATING LIBRTMP ON XBMC
Requirements
- FTP Client Software
- libRTMP File (depends on platform)
Step 1: Download the updated libRTMP file for your particular platform.
Step 2: Follow the platform specific instructions below to replace the current file the updated version you downloaded.
| Windows | Replace Program Files/XBMC/system/players/dvdplayer/librtmp.dll from XBMC with the one from the archive. |
| Mac OS X | Replace XBMC.app/Contents/Frameworks/librtmp.0.dylib (Right-Click on XBMC, Show Package Contents) with the new version. |
| iOS (Apple TV) |
Replace /Applications/XBMC.frappliance/Frameworks/librtmp.0.dylib with the new version. |
| iOS (iPhone/iPad) | Replace /Applications/XBMC.app/Frameworks/librtmp.0.dylib with the new version. |
| GNU/Linux | Download the patched librtmp source code, compile it with make in the librtmp folder and replace librtmp.so.0 (find it with find / | grep librtmp.so.0) with the new version. |
Step 3: You’ll now want to enable “Updated libRTMP present” within the addon “Settings” for SuperTV, rtmpGUI+, or whichever other live streaming addon you use.
Congratulations! Your live streaming experience with XBMC should now be maximized. Remember not to eat that entire supersized fry, it’s no good for you.

Thanks for the info, I was following the instructions but my Ikarus anti-virus detected:
Backdoor.Win32.SuspectCRC
Thinking it was false positive I run a check with totalvirus and here’s the link at the result:

13 out of 41 engines detected this file as either a backdorr or a trojan or a variant.
Why is that?

It’s a false positive because CRC is off.
