Subscription Questions

I was wondering...

1. Is the search function the quickest way to subscribe to tv shows? (Browsing lists at 24 hits per page is tedious)
2. Why can't I subscribe to shows from my 1channel favourites list? (Not an error just the option to subscribe is not listed in the subcontext menu)
3. Will "Mark as Watched" for streams in the XBMC library ever be solved? (I remember this being a problem with IceLibrary and this topic is 6 months old now)
4. How can I copy subscriptions between XBMCs (Specifically two ATV2s without synced databases. Would a straight copy of the plugin folder of one ATV2 to the other work?)
5. Is it possible to subscribe to movie lists? eg. Just added (Individual movie subscriptions is again tedious)

1. It depends but it usually is the fastest yes. The reason of 24 items is because the 1channel home page returns 24 items at the time. Which is told in many posts here.

Normally you wait for the official stable release for the fixes.
Then for the next version you can request some of these features.

The author has already done a enormous good job and made a plugin by himself and it is free, you could also just be thankfull that you are able to have any of it to begin with. If you can not wait or are bothered by something you could also help out and contribute with the fixes and features yourself and make people just as yourself more happy about the plugin.. (;

I am not trying to insult you or anything you are most welcome, but just think about it.

Just to clarify, these questions were based on me wondering if I had missed something and were not a demand for features. I realise that this is a great plugin and it serves me everyday (I'm an Australian living in Germany and need my fix of English TV). Unfortunately I have not coding ability at all and can not be of any help. Anyway I think question 4 has nothing to do with it being a beta.

So would a straight copy of the plugin from one atv to another include the subscriptions? I am afraid to go ahead and try this as I don't want to ruin a working plugin.

That was because the post was not exactly sounding especially warm and thankfull to start with, therefore I have a tendency to answer in the same manner. (threat others as you want to be threated yourself goes both ways in my world) But now you have explained why, point is taken and I'm sorry.

You would need to copy the onechannel.db file located in ../userdir/Database/onechannel.db this should copy subscriptions and favorites. But of cause overwriting any existing ones on the target machine.

Depending on the method of copying you would probably also need the change the permissions on the copied file afterwards with the command in the Database dir: "chown mobile:mobile onechannel.db" without the quotes so the target atv2 can write to it.

I am not entirely sure though since I do not own a atv2 but it is the usual *nix way of doing things like this.

If you do a straight overwrite permissions stay in place

Yeah. That's what I meant but if you go through windows as a middle station to place the files they usually loose permissions and they are set to the user you log in with which in many cases might be root so the file would get owned by root if you use that login. But I suppose you can just login as mobile when you place the file on the target machine. Anyway if you can't create new subscriptions and favorites you now know why.

I have a ton of shows in my favorites... What does subscriptions do? I didn't even know that was a feature of this (AMAZING) addon...

It's only available in the beta. It a feature to bring the tv-shows or a movie into the real XBMC library by using .strm files so you can use the usual scrapers to get info, when subscribed to a running tv-show you get automatic updates in your library and if you set your skin to show lastest updates they will be available right there from the frontpage. A nice and clean way of doing things, I don't know if you are familiar with the old currently broken icelibrary but it's basically the same thing just for 1channel instead.
