    Linux on xbox

Has anyone installed linux, installed, and ran xbmc for linux on the xbox? I'm very curious as to whether this works or not and if it is an option.

You can install a version of linux on the xbox (xdsl = xbox damn small linux) and xphazer recently released a pretty good version which you can find over at xbmc4xbox.org forums - just search for xdsl. If you want to do a bit of browsing and other basic linux stuff then try it out but installing the linux version of xbmc on it won't work. XBMC4Xbox is designed and optimised specifically for xbox so you won't find a better version of xbmc for xbox anywhere else. If you could run linux xbmc through xdsl it would be painfully slow but I don't think it's even possible to run as the correct codecs and drivers wouldn't be installed. Hope that answers that question!

Gentoox is another great xbox distro, although it doesn't run as fast as xdsl it does look really good, people with memory upgrades might benefit more from this distro, I have used it in the past and it worked just fine you can find more info on their main site here http://gentoox.shallax.com/index.php
