FSS Support: Yes/No

Postby twistedpear » Tue May 01, 2012 7:14 pm

I've been hapily using FSS for about 2-3 months. Enjoying it on XBMC, then using Airplay to get it to my AppleTV once XBMC was no longer an option.

Now I've been finding that several channels are offline (that are supposed to be 22x7). EuroSport 2 for example has been down for the past 4 days, since Saturday 6am (possibly before). I've emailed them several times over the past week and received no responses, I even chatted with "sales" about the issue but it was "not my[their] department"...

Thank goodness for some of the FREE streaming sites that had BBC 2 (which FSS don't carry) so I could watch the MotoGP on the weekend. It's pretty poor that a service we pay for to not respond to emails and service outage notifications.

So if you are considering FSS, just be aware of this issue. It shouldn't be the only factor in your decision as I've been extremely happy otherwise, but I personally only get the service to watch Rugby and MotoGP.

just a quick one here.
i have nothing to do with FSS and i and mclog are the creators of the plugib.

the plugin we created was an extra for you guys using xbmc, it has nothing to do with the owners of FSS.

you purchased your sub with FSS for the html website, which works fine.
if you purchased for the xbmc plugin, you should have done your research first, this has nothing to do with the owner of FSS.

i and mclog have a life, we cannot sit here and update the plugin and re-design the code if the owner of FSS decides to change something (which has nothing to do with us at xbmc)

please, take a look around the other threads, you'll actually realise me and kev (owner of FSS) are now in talks and we are now working together to resolve the XBMC issue and hopefully prevent any future problems.

by any chance do you even know why the plugin went down in the first place?
if not, i have just wasted my time on this post

myksterx - Yah, probably not the ideal forum to post in as the forum is for the plugin and not FSS directly however this forum has:

1. a number of users asking if they should get FSS or not
2. a number of existing FSS users as a result of your plugin.

My goal was to furnish 1. with my input on issues I've had with FSS and that I on the whole think it is fine, except that if you have a support problem, you're kindof on your own. Also to solicit input and help from 2. who may have had some success in actually getting support for the FSS Service.

I think you inferred that I was complaining about the plugin. This was not so much about the plugin but the fact that "kev" (who I too have previously spoken with on other issues) and his team have gone dark from my perspective, regarding support (of FSS, not the plugin) as I have notified them on multiple occasions about channels being down which appear to remain down. I certainly did take the time to read the other posts and see your other "we have a life" comments, to which I don't believe anyone complained about, nor I comment about in my previous post other than to say that I was quite happy with watching via the plugin (and happy watching via Airplay once the plugin was not an option !!!) though I am sure I could have been much more succinct about my issue not being with the plugin ! Feel free to ban / delete / whatever is appropriate.

No reason to be offended, it's not about the plugin being down. Let's hope FSS can learn something from this story about a lack of communication from their side. ;)

the plugin is still being worked on, i know why it isnt logging in, me and kev spoke not last night the night before, the site suffered a ddos attack, so now there is a new link to the site (ie. .com/.biz etc)

i think he has now sorted the situation, but now i need to re-edit the login part aswell as all the other parts of the plugin, although should be an easy fix

ps. i am going to look at the login section in the next hour as i have the day off work

got plugin to login again under new domain.

will push out update, although, i dont really see the point in the update going out (as it is still in the situation as it was before)

however, so that everyone knows that work is actually doing done, will push this update out ASAP (today)

it will then log in as usual.

i have just emailed kev, to see what else he needs me to look at..

Myksterx you are a star. Even though the plugin is still being worked on people need to be aware that they wouldn't be able to watch anything through there ATV's etc without your hard work.
No one at FSS would have bothered with the browser option unless they had built up such an enormous client base via your plugin. I will be enjoying the Championship play offs tonight with a few beers and a few mates on my 47" TV because of all your hard work.
Cheers fella and if your ever in the Royal County of Berkshire the beers are on me :D
